Best Content Delivery Network Companies

Each blogger or web master needs their site to load quickly. As most Internet users hate slow loading blogs, they will simply close the page and move on if a blog is loading slowly. WordPress users normally install various plug-ins to speed up their blogs. But are plug-ins enough for speeding up a blog? Of course, not. There are many other ways to speed up the WordPress blog, for instance, CSS and JS compression, data base optimization, image optimization, etc.

However, the most important way you can speed up your blog is to use Content Delivery Network (CDN) in your blog. The vast majority of newcomer bloggers do not even know what a CDN is.

When I started my career as a blogger I have read several articles on CDN and how it is used to speed up blogs. I have thought that CDN is a company providing fast hosting. But later, having carried out proper research of CDN, I have found out what a CDN is and how it works. In this article I will clearly explain what a CDN is and what the benefits of using CDN in blogs and websites are.

What is a CDN (content delivery network)?

CDN means content delivery network or content distribution network which is used to accelerate the speed of your blog/website loading.

CDN is a network of servers which are being used for the storage of static content, for instance, images, Flash files, videos and some issue-related materials such as CSS, Javascripts and others; they are being cached on users’ devices from the servers on the basis of users’ locations.

In order for you to understand it clearly, I will try to explain it in a simpler way. When users enter your blog, they are redirected to the main server which is storing your files. Therefore, each server entering your blog will access it from the only server, your main one.

What happens to your blog when there are lots of traffic coming to your blog and the main server is loaded up? It slows down and your main server can crash. When your main server is damaged, you need to restore your blog using backups of all data, and then you need to update your hosting which is costly.

In this case CDN can help you. As I said earlier, CDN is a network of various servers which can be located in different places around the world. The server stores static files of your blog, namely videos, images, issue-related files, etc. It supports copies of your files located in different parts of your servers and adds them to the content delivery network.

For instance, when a user enters your blog from Jamaica, they are redirected to the closest server storing your cached files. Hence, using CDN in a blog you decrease the burden of your main server and speed up the loading of your blog.

So, I think you have understood clearly what a CDN is, and below I am going to list the benefits of using a CDN.

CDN benefits:

Speed up your blog loading:

Using a content delivery network in a blog you decrease the loading time and the loading time of your blog pages. Most users love fast-loading blogs, not slow ones, therefore, your website traffic can be improved.

Ranging:

Google have spoken long ago that the loading time of a blog is one of the most important factors of search engine ranging. Thus, if you use a CDN, your blog will be far higher than others in search engines, and this will help you decrease bounce rates.

Great network traffic:

As I mentioned earlier, when huge amounts of traffic come to your blog, this loads up the main server and may slow down or even break down your main server. However, a CDN can process huge amounts of traffic and eliminates downtime and errors. This can save you a lot of money that you spend on a change of a hosting.

Conclusions:

If you are using a CDN (content delivery network) the loading time of your blog is improving and the load on your main server decreases. Your blog will never be out of reach, as the static files of your blog are located on various servers, and if one of them breaks down, all files are being delivered from another server. Your website performance will improve and, as a consequence, the traffic to your blog will go up.
